…Just A Thought
s I was browsing local photographers, I was curious about competitive prices. I noticed as I surfed the web, that my fellow photographers were charging, on average, around $2,500 for a base wedding package. By base I mean minimal coverage and only a handful of edited images on a web gallery, which the client still would be required to pay for prints as an additional charge. Now, I’m not condemning anyone for the way they chose to operate their business, nor am I implying that my infrastructure is right or better than the next photographer’s, but I have to wonder, where exactly are they placing their value? I’ve been told that the more I charge, the more I value my work. Well, if that were the case then I would have a difficult time pinpointing an exact price, because my value for my art is limitless and ever increasing. I have said this before, and I will say it again… my passion goes beyond the art of photography. My real passion behind photography is the joy that MY ART brings to others. There is nothing more rewarding than receiving eccentric gratitude for something I created.
Furthermore, who am I to hold for ransom photos of someone’s beloved wedding day? I am very generous when it comes to my packages. I’ll be honest though, I don’t give every photo I’ve taken, but that’s because I mull through the photos and toss the ones that are out of focus, someone’s eyes are closed or head is turned, and the plethora of duplicates as a result of shooting in high continuous mode.
